🌊🎨 SEA POSTCARD | Children's Workshop How do you see the sea? A ship, a fish, waves, a lighthouse… Or perhaps a completely different sea that exists only in your imagination. ✨ In the Sea Postcard Workshop, children will draw inspiration from the sea and create their own postcards using colors and their imaginations. A diverse sea story begins on a small sheet of paper, brought to life with watercolors, pastels, colored pencils, and brushes. 💙
03Letter to the Sea
✏️🌊 SEA SKETCH | Adult Workshop Look. Notice. Draw. The lines of a ship, the rhythm of the shoreline, the movement of a wave, a lighthouse, or a small maritime detail you encounter in the museum… More than a professional art class, the Sea Sketch Workshop is a brief, accessible art experience that invites you to look at the sea a little more closely. Using pencils, charcoal, watercolors, and fine brushes, capture your observations on paper with your own unique strokes.

🌊✉️ LETTER TO THE SEA | Blue Literature Children’s Workshop What do children want to say to the sea? A word of thanks, a dream, a little secret, or perhaps a promise to protect the sea… In the "Letter to the Sea" workshop, children will transform their feelings and thoughts about the sea into a short, simple text that is entirely their own. 💙 There are no right or wrong answers in this workshop. Every child has something different to say to the sea and a different story to tell. 📍 Istanbul Naval Museum, Beşiktaş 📅 October 31, 2026 📚 Blue Axis Festival 2026 – Blue Literature Workshop times and participation details will be announced in the festival program. A sentence starting with "Dear Sea..." might just become the opening line of a story remembered for a long time to come.

🌊📖 SHORT SEA STORY | Blue Literature Children's Workshop A ship… A shore… A sea creature… Perhaps a journey never before taken. In the Short Sea Story Workshop, children will craft their own stories based on a small, sea-inspired idea. They will choose a character, imagine a journey, and create a unique sea story in just a few sentences. ✍️💙 What matters here isn't writing a long piece; it’s about imagining, telling a story, and finding one’s own voice. 📍 Istanbul Naval Museum, Beşiktaş 📅 October 31, 2026 📚 Blue Axis Festival 2026 – Blue Literature Workshop times and participation details will be announced in the festival program. 06Create a Character
🌊📖 COMPLETE THE STORY | Blue Literature Children’s Workshop A story begins… But what happens next? In the "Complete the Story" workshop, children will use their imaginations to flesh out the characters, plot, and ending of a sea-themed story that has already been started. Perhaps a small sailboat will reach an unknown cove. Perhaps a sea creature will meet a new friend. Or perhaps the story will end in a place no one expected. ✍️✨ There is no single "correct" ending in this workshop. Every child is the author of their own story.
07A 100-Word Sea Story
⚓📚 Create Your Character | Mavi Literature Children’s Workshop A captain? A curious marine researcher? A brave sailor? Or perhaps an imaginary sea creature never seen before? 🌊✨ In the "Create Your Character" workshop, children will design their own sea characters, giving them unique traits, interests, and dreams, and then craft a short story for them. What do they look like? What do they love? Where do they want to go? What kind of adventure will they experience at sea? This time, the story’s hero is defined by the children's imaginations. 💙
08Design a Mini Marine Vehicle
🌊✍️ 100-Word Sea Story | Mavi Edebiyat Adult Workshop A harbor, a ship, a voyage, a vigil, or simply a single sentence setting sail upon the sea… In the 100-Word Sea Story Workshop, participants will transform a sea-inspired idea into a short story—complete with atmosphere and narrative—using exactly 100 words. Few words, powerful storytelling. Limited space, boundless imagination. The goal is to distill the idea, strip away the superfluous, and craft a compelling sea story within a brief text. 💙
09Navigate the Ship
🌊⚙️ Design a Mini Marine Vessel | Blue Technology Children's Workshop What would the marine vessel of the future look like? A boat that consumes less energy? A research vessel that cleans the sea? A small, solar-powered exploration ship? In the "Design a Mini Marine Vessel" workshop, children will design their own marine vessels using paper and cardboard, imagining the vessel's hull, its mission, and the technology it utilizes. 🚤✨ The goal is not merely to build a boat, but to reflect on the future of the sea, create, and develop new ideas. 🚢🧭 STEER THE SHIP | Blue Technology Children's Workshop How does a ship reach its destination? Which way should it turn, which route should it follow, and where should it change course? In the "Steer the Ship" workshop, children will explore concepts such as routes, directions, and destinations through a fun maritime journey. They will create their own paths on a map and try to navigate their vessels to their chosen destinations. 🌊 In this experience, children will do more than just find their way; they will also exercise their planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Sensors are among the systems that enable it to detect changes in temperature, drops in light levels, or the presence of obstacles in its path. In the Discover Sensors Workshop, children will explore how temperature, light, and distance sensors perceive the environment through simple, easy-to-understand examples. ⚙️🌊 This workshop aims to show that technology is not just about screens; it demonstrates how technology operates through systems that measure and perceive our surroundings, transforming that input into information. In the Sensors and Marine Data Workshop, participants will explore—at a foundational level—how real or sample marine data is obtained from sensors and what this data reveals to us. We will examine how various measurements—such as temperature, wind, waves, and currents—are transformed into data and how that data can be used to understand the sea. 🌡️🌬️🌊 The goal is to visualize the sensor → data → meaning relationship through an accessible experience, without getting bogged down in complex technical systems.

🧪🌊 SALTWATER EXPERIMENT | Mavi Bilim Children's Workshop Why might the same object sink in one type of water but float more easily in another? In the Saltwater Experiment Workshop, children will observe how varying levels of salinity alter the behavior of objects in water. By experimenting, comparing, and observing the results, they will discover the relationship between salinity and buoyancy. 🔬✨ Wondering, asking questions, and seeking answers through experimentation… At Mavi Bilim, learning begins with discovery.

🔬🌊 EXAMINE SEAWATER | Blue Science Children's Workshop Is seawater the same everywhere? What can its color, temperature, and pH level tell us about the water? In the "Examine Seawater" workshop, children will compare different water samples and investigate seawater with scientific curiosity through observations of temperature, color, and pH. The goal is for children not merely to look, but to observe, compare, and reflect on their findings. 🔍🧪 Small measurements can be the start of great discoveries.
19The Sea under a Microscope
🧪🌊 Who Floats, Who Sinks? | Blue Science Children's Workshop Why does a stone sink while some objects stay afloat? Why might two objects of the same size behave differently? In the "Who Floats, Who Sinks?" workshop, children will place various objects in water and discover the concept of density by observing which ones float and which ones sink. Make a prediction. Experiment. Observe. Compare the results. 🔍✨ The goal of this experiment is not merely to find the answer, but to encourage children to ask "Why?" and to arrive at the answer through experimentation.

In the "Sea Under the Microscope" workshop, children will discover the unseen details of the sea by examining plankton, sand, and shells under a microscope (subject to sample availability). What does the surface of a grain of sand look like? What details can be found on a shell? What kind of world do plankton reveal under the microscope? 🔍✨ The goal of this workshop is for children to make observations, notice details, and approach marine life with scientific curiosity.

What does it need? What happens when its habitat changes? The goal of this workshop is not merely for children to identify marine creatures, but to understand the environments they inhabit and view the marine ecosystem as a whole.

In the "How Are Microplastics Studied?" workshop, the fundamental approaches to sampling, separation, and analysis used in microplastic research will be explored through clear, practical demonstrations. How is a sample collected? How are different particles separated? What factors are considered during the analysis process? This workshop offers an opportunity to take a closer look not just at the results of microplastic research, but at the scientific process followed to achieve those results.

In "The Science of the Bosphorus" workshop, we will explore the fundamental physical characteristics of the Bosphorus—focusing particularly on its current system—through brief presentations and hands-on experiments. Why do the waters of the Bosphorus move in different directions? How do salinity and density influence this movement? How do different water masses interact with one another? This workshop invites you to view the Bosphorus—which we look at every day—through the lens of science. 🌊
28Where Do Colors Go Underwater?
In SUFOD’s live demonstration, raw and corrected underwater images will be compared side by side to explain underwater light, color loss, white balance and basic image correction through visual examples.
29TUSACAN Interactive Discovery Area
TUSACAN – Türkiye Su Altı Canlıları Platformu becomes an interactive discovery area at the Mavi Eksen Festival. Visitors will explore underwater species on screen, test their species identification skills and discover how observations can contribute to documenting aquatic biodiversity.
30Gökçeada 2026 — Underwater Photography Selection
Following the Gökçeada Marine Park 4th Underwater Photography Competition on 19 September, a small “Gökçeada 2026” selection featuring awarded or shortlisted photographs is planned, subject to the necessary permissions and final approval.
